About Me

I am a professional clothing seamstress, having graduated in 2014. I was offered the opportunity to become a partner in a sewing studio & fabric shop, and I seized the chance. That marked the beginning of an incredible journey into entrepreneurship. Together with my business partners, we ran the shop for over 5 years, during which I completed a wide variety of sewing projects and learned a lot about running a business. In 2021, I furthered my education by completing a vocational degree in Custom Dressmaking. I am currently studying for a specialized vocational degree in the textile and fashion industry, and in January 2025, I will seek new challenges by starting my studies in tailoring.

Clothing making and craftsmanship run strongly in my family. My grandmother made all her clothes herself, and my great-grandfather was a tailor by profession. I feel that this profession is very natural and dear to me.

I have done a wide range of alteration work, from casual clothing to wedding dresses. I advocate for sustainable consumption, and I'm pleased to see that clothing repair has become an increasingly popular service as ecological values gain mainstream traction.

I also make home textiles and create custom-made garments based on clients' wishes. Additionally, I design new clothes from old garments. When creating custom-made clothing, it is important to me as a maker that the clothes are made from high-quality materials, stand the test of time, fit well, and suit the client's needs and style.

I love sewing and customer service, and I warmly welcome all kinds of customers. My workspace is located at my home in Paloheinä, Helsinki, and I also have a brick-and-mortar shop in Käpylä under the name Atelje Kalakauppa. In addition to this, I work part-time as a teacher in the textile and fashion field at a vocational school.

You are warmly welcome!
